Our Styling Philosophy

At Paper Threads, our ethos is centred around building greater connections between yourself and the clothes you wear. We believe in the power of a great outfit; that getting dressed should be fun, and that everyone deserves to feel good in their (second) skin with a wardrobe that excites and inspires.

We live our lives in the clothes that we wear; so we want you to have a wardrobe that has your back: one that supports you seamlessly through first dates (as many as it takes), job interviews, special occasions and all the days in between.

Our aim is to offer approachable and accessible styling services that empower you to create ensembles that celebrate the season that you are in - rather than those dictated by fast-fashion production cycles - and to continue to build upon your collection with quality pieces that are sustainable for both the environment and your wallet.

Lilian Choo

Director & Head Stylist

With over eight years of experience in the fashion and design industry, Lilian’s background working behind-the-scenes in production has led to an appreciation and understanding of the materials and craftsmanship that goes into the clothing we own. Her styling approach draws from her training and practice as an illustrator; composing outfits as a piece of artwork to wear with a particular penchant for playing with colour and texture. As a lifelong sufferer of eczema, Lilian advocates for body inclusivity and empathises deeply with the impact outward appearances can have on your internal landscape. Her personal teachings in yoga and mindfulness complement her professional practice and underpin the idea that our relationship to clothing has the power to shift, elevate and enhance perceptions of ourselves.

“Lilian’s love and knowledge for sustainability, textures and how to wear clothes in more than one way is beyond anything I’ve ever known and she is full of so much love and pride in sharing her wealth of knowledge.”
